Mark Melchiorre

Mark Melchiorre is a practitioner of Chinese Medicine. He received his Master of Science in Oriental Medicine from Samra University in Los Angeles, California. Studies at Samra included acupuncture, herbal medicine, tuina massage, T’ai Chi Chuan (taiji) and Qigong (chi kung.) Mark is a licensed acupuncturist in the state of California. He has participated in California’s Workers Compensation System as a Qualified Medical Examiner (QME.)

Three hundred hours of postgraduate study and the passing of a rigorous exam earned Mark certification as a Diplomate for the National Board of Acupuncture Orthopedics. Mark served as a member of the Quality Assurance and Utilization Review Committee for AcuCare, a managed care provider group for acupuncturists. He has been a faculty member at several schools of Asian Medicine teaching acupuncture points location and theory. Mark’s postgraduate studies include an internship at the Zhejiang Provincial Hospital of Traditional Chinese Medicine in Hangzhou, China. Mark has facilitated weekly meditation groups.

In 1985 Mark began studying Tai Chi Chuan and Qigong. The study and practice of Tai Chi and Qigong led Mark to investigate the philosophy behind these disciplines, culminating in his present career as a practitioner-teacher of Chinese Medicine. Mark continues to practice Tai Chi and Qigong. He has served on the Board of Directors of the National Qigong Association, and is a certified teacher with the Institute of Integral Qigong and Tai Chi (IIQTC.) Mark teaches methods that are adaptable to an individual’s personal health and fitness requirements.

Mark maintains a private practice in South Pasadena, CA, and is a staff acupuncturist at the Roy and Patricia Disney Family Cancer Center in Burbank, CA. Mark is available for private and group lessons in Tai Chi Qigong. Please contact Mark for details.
